This beautiful example was first ordered at a cost of £9,336 via HR Owen LTD of Berkeley Street on 15th August 1972 with build completion by 2nd September. Registration & delivery was completed in late September. Originally owned by a S. J. Rorke Esq of Welwyn, Hertfordshire - his country estate property last sold for £3,000,000 just to give you an indication of the gentleman's overall status in the early 1970's! Known within the RREC since the early 1980's & prize winning at many events.
She was optioned in Garnet with twin Gold fine lines & for the sumptuous cabin, Beige Connolly hide & contrasting Cumberland Stone carpets. Highly polished burr walnut veneers are blemish free, rich in colour & stunning. Considering fifty three years have since passed by, the overall condition & quality throughout is exceptional
Fitted optional extras include Triplex Sundym glass, White wall tyres, original Lucas wing mirrors, Factory fitted Radiomobile 8-Track player
This very low mileage example has come to us from an overseas client who wanted to secure the very best example for his summer UK visits. He fought very hard to acquire her from a collector in East Sussex & now regrettably, a change in personal circumstances means the gentleman will not have the spare time for summer vacations in England. His loss could well be your gain!
Mechanically, the 6750cc V8 engine starts with ease on the first turn of the key & naturally drives beautifully. We have covered in excess of 300 miles with her without fault or flaw. An incredible amount of time, effort & naturally money has been spent keeping her in tip top condition. Fortunately, this has never been a neglected Silver Shadow like so many where maintenance was viewed as 'optional'. With a mere 48,000 miles covered in fifty three years, the mechanicals have seen limited & careful use, never suffering from long periods of inactivity.
With far to much to list here in detail, the huge & bespoke RREC ring binder contains a full history from day one. Including original sales order form, warranty acknowledgement, certified copy of the build records, MoT certificates dating back to 1997 & naturally full of invoices from various respected RR specialists to confirm a 'no expense spared' approach to everything ... even down to genuine Connolly hide food being procured for the vigorous coatings given to the supple hides. So far, we have loosely calculated a combined cost of over £92,000 ... not of course factoring in the initial purchase price!
To note: within the past 2k miles alone, a further £5,000 worth of work has been carried out by N. Sandell that included a comprehensive service, new exhaust system & new Bosch battery.
Upon our 300 miles of enjoyment so far we have encountered nothing other than admiring glances & smiles, be prepared to have photograph requests at every filling station visit! She is also in exceptional condition underneath with most of the fitted components still as new (invoices on file) & waxoyled throughout annually since new
A wonderful motor car, built to a connoisseurs dream specification. Now ready to enjoy. Historic road tax & ULEZ exempt.
